The Baxter show.

So, on Saturday me, and Jackie went to the Baxter show ( crystal drove us, Thanks crystal )and had a lot of fun. I found the DRCBA shows more friendlier, but it seemed to have more rabbits in general which was good. I liked how the cavies were being judged :)

So placements are as follows:

Pretty Epic - BOB Jersey Wooly
Lunatic Fringe - Reserve solid wooly ( the doe above was the solid that beat him)
Panache - 4/9 Solid ( black, blue and REW ) Mini rex does.

I was happy with all the placements. There was not a lot of mini rex that were in coat, but overall i liked it!

Next show: schomberg, or possibly Meaford.

Some people, i dont get.

While i was out cleaning the barn i got thinking, how can someone see, and know there is something wrong with an animal and do nothing about it? For example, in my lifetime i have seen many horrible things and cruelty, but im not specifically talking about that. I see peoples rabbits sneeze, and people shrug there shoulders. Ive seen people that have animals with infested ear mights and do nothing about it. Ive seen people that have animals in terrible conditions and dont take the time to clean out the cages. Ive seen so many things, and i dont get how they can shrug it off. When i have something wrong with an animal, as simple as they dont look "happy" i worry and worry and try to figure it out and make it better. Now, i get it that everyone in the animal industry is going to come across an illness, but when you do, you fix the problem and move on. On the other side, ive also seen lots of places that have extremely happy animals and nothing wrong with them, and a lot of my friends are the same way I am.

I just dont get how someone can do nothing about it, when an animal is obviously in pain. I just dont get it...

March Break

It was a very interesting and fun march break! Very long. The Sunday of march break, i met Jackie at the flying J and went to stay at her moms for the week. It was a lot of fun, we cleaned and groomed rabbits, searched for rabbits, humanly put down our first rabbit, and played on frozen ponds. We took her pig for walks, biked trails, just had a lot of fun. On the Friday, my mom drove me and Jackie to Crystal McIntosh's. We stayed there over night so we could go to the auction with her on the Saturday, which we did. We had a blast there. A lot of nice, and good breeders, and a good opportunity to get nice stock. I picked up three rabbits from Devon, a tort Jersey Wooly buck, a Black mini rex buck, and a Black Jersey Woolie doe. I am very happy with all of them. Here are some pictures:

I also got new pictures of my rabbits:

And here is a video of Jackie falling through the ice, a lot of fun! :)

My descpiptive essay

So, in english i have to write a essay on something descriptive and i chose Panache , so here it is, its on this picture:

On a good posing surface, sits DevonGlens Panache, a black senior mini rex doe. She has good type, fur, colour and condition. The deep, bold, black colour catched your eye as you look at this rabbit and has no stray white hairs. The dense, velvet like fur is soft not only to the touch, but your eyes as well. When you run your hands through the fur it jumps back into position. She is posed proper and perfect, showing off her short coby mid-section and her hight that is just right. She has amazing width that is balanced and proportioned to the hight and depth. She is exceptionally full and smooth. You can run your hands over her and not catch a thing. She is as round as a boulder rolling down a gigantic hill. Her ears are a good length , not to long, and not to short. They have good substance and are well furred. Bold bum and bone is what she has. Her bone is thick and powerful and she has a nice butt that is very full. Overall, DevonGlens Panache is a good example of the breed.

PartyGirls litter - email if interested in any.

So - some news: Ive decided to sell some of my rabbits and only keep the best of the best to better my stock. This means, ive sold JHRs Cocoa ( DevonGlen rabitry ), Family Pride's Dewey( McIntosh Rabbitry), and DevonGlens Hysteria(Silver Birch Rabbitry ). I know they are going to great homes. Ive also purchased a black buck from Devon, and also a black Jersey Woolie doe from her too. Im super exited for these. I FINALLY got my hands on a tattoo clamp, im trading with Jackie for Hysteria.

In other news - im also going to the schomberg rabbit auction in march. Im very exited about that. Im meeting with Jackie in london and then we are meeting Crystal in Listowel, and staying at her place over night :) We are also meeting Devon there!

Below is the same with a jersey woolie:

So - news. The kits from Party Girl are growing and are already being spoken for. Eyes just open and they are starting to venture out of the nestbox :)

Just realized - planning to attend almost 13 shows this year. Cant wait until the convention in November!

Another thing that i am very exited for is the auction. Im going to be going with Crystal, and Jackie ( my girlfriend :P ), and Devon will be there too. Im looking forward to shopping around and getting together with everyone!
